Mr. Isaac Chao has coached debate in the Houston Independent School District for well over a decade. He graduated from Rice University with a degree in Religious Studies and began his teaching career at Heights High School, where he coached Lincoln Douglas and Policy teams to national success across multiple competition circuits. Mr. Chao became the Director of Speech and Debate at Bellaire High School in 2024, and he is only the 6th Director in the Bellaire Debate Team's storied 70+ year history. At Bellaire, Mr. Chao runs the largest speech and debate program in HISD and one of the most competitive programs in the greater Houston area. His students compete in almost every Texas Forensic Association qualifying event.

In his free time, Mr. Chao enjoys organizing things and eating delicious food!
